Ulyssia Contract Signals New Scale for Residential Yachting

The 323-metre Ulyssia residential-yacht project has selected China Merchants Cruise Shipbuilding, moving an ambitious private-residence concept toward a planned 2031 delivery.

The proposed 323-metre residential yacht **Ulyssia** has taken a significant step forward with confirmation of a construction contract at China Merchants Cruise Shipbuilding. BOAT International reported that the project anticipates a 2031 maiden voyage. Espen Øino is associated with the exterior design, while the programme combines private residences with shared amenities and a global cruising concept at a scale beyond conventional superyachting. The selection of a construction partner is strategically important. Residential vessels combine the complexity of a large passenger ship, the service expectations of luxury property and the brand promise of a yacht. Yard capability, supply-chain depth, regulatory coordination and long-term technical support therefore become central investment questions. Ulyssia also reflects a broader expansion of the ownership spectrum. Instead of commissioning and operating an entire large yacht, residents acquire a private space within a professionally managed vessel and participate in a long-range itinerary. The project remains years from delivery, and execution will determine whether its scale translates into a coherent owner experience. Nevertheless, the contract gives the industry a concrete programme through which to assess the next generation of residential yachting.
